Our story
From 2019 to today
On the most beautiful spot of Castricum aan Zee, almost with your feet in the sand and the North Sea as the view, stands Beach Pavilion Zeezicht.
In December 2019 Michael Hemmer and Cynthia Lustig took over the pavilion, after years of experience as managers on Castricum's beach. The start was turbulent: barely three months later, the pandemic brought everything to a halt. But the ambition remained.
In March 2023 a major rebuild followed. On the orders of the water authority, the entire pavilion was moved six metres forward, onto 160 hardwood pilings of eight metres each, and the roof was raised by another metre and a half. Zeezicht was essentially rebuilt from the ground up into the modern beach pavilion it is today.
Today Zeezicht is a place for lunch, dinner, drinks, weddings and corporate events, with fresh dishes and North Sea fish, cocktails and special brews such as abbey beer from Egmond. From a relaxed lunch with your feet in the sand to a full wedding day by the sea: at Zeezicht everything revolves around hospitality and that expansive view.
Zeezicht is part of SEB Horecagroep, alongside Gasterij Nieuw Westert, Nautilus aan Zee and Grand Café Van Ruysdael, and runs on a team of more than 24 permanent staff plus a flexible crew that knows the beach inside out.
In 2023 and again in 2024 the jury of the Strandverkiezingen, an initiative of Strand Nederland and Rijkswaterstaat, named Zeezicht the best beach pavilion of North Holland. The jury assessed cleanliness, service, appearance and staff knowledge, the presentation of the dishes and the state of the facilities, and awarded Zeezicht a 9 or higher.

Fresh, seasonal and close to the sea
In the kitchen everything revolves around fresh and seasonal. Our chef and kitchen team work with North Sea fish, local produce and rotating specials: from an extensive lunch to a refined dinner at sunset.
