Castricum Dog Beach: rules per season

1 Oct – 1 May: off the lead all day on the beach

1 May – 1 Oct: free before 10:00 and after 19:00

On a lead during the day in three designated zones

In the dunes always on a short lead and on the paths

Summer rules during the day

Between 10:00 and 19:00 in the period 1 May to 1 October, dogs are only allowed on a lead on the walking paths in front of the pavilions, in the north zone from the Bad Noord beach entrance to marker 43 and in the south zone from the Stille Strand to marker 47.750. The bathing area at the beach plateau is dog-free during those times.

Your dog in the dune reserve

In the Noordhollands Duinreservaat your dog must always stay on a short lead and stick to the paths. Off-lead areas can be found nearby: the green strip along the Zeeweg up to the beach plateau and the loop around the Zanderij.

Clean-up duty

You must clean up droppings immediately, and you are required to carry a clean-up tool with you (Castricum bylaws). This is also checked.

How dog-friendly is Castricum?

Castricum is relatively dog-friendly. In Wijk aan Zee dogs are not allowed at all during the day in summer; Egmond applies times similar to Castricum's.

After the fresh air

Dogs are welcome on the terrace of Strandpaviljoen Zeezicht, which is open all year round. Warm up with a coffee or join for lunch after the walk. Your dog is simply welcome to sit outside with you.
