Blue Flag beach, bathing water officially rated "Excellent"
Supervised by the Lifeguard Brigade + first-aid post during the beach season
±15 min cycling from Castricum train station
Five beach pavilions, of which Zeezicht is open year-round

How to get to the beach
From Castricum train station it's ±15 minutes cycling or ±52 minutes walking to the sea. In summer the free Kustbus (line 868) runs every 30 minutes between 10:00 and 21:00 from the station via Camping Bakkum to the beach plateau; in the summer of 2026 it runs from 4 July through 30 August. At the station 64 OV-bikes are available if you'd rather pedal yourself.

Safe swimming in the North Sea
The Castricum Lifeguard Brigade and the first-aid post are active throughout the entire beach season; in 2026 supervision started on 9 May. The bathing water quality is officially rated "Excellent" and the beach was awarded the Blue Flag in 2025. In summer there's a free drinking water point on the beach plateau, and a free (children's) beach wheelchair can be borrowed.

The beach pavilions at a glance
Castricum aan Zee has five pavilions: Zeezicht, De Deining, Zoomers, Club Zand and Bad Noord/Noordkust. Strandpaviljoen Zeezicht sits directly to the left of the beach entrance and is open all year, for coffee after a dune walk, lunch with sand between your toes or dinner while the sun sinks into the sea.

Active on the water and on the sand
The kitesurf zones lie to the left (after ±300 m) and right (after ±200 m) of the beach entrance, not in front of the pavilions. South of the entrance, between beach markers 46 and 47, there's an informal nudist beach.

Rules on the beach
Lighting campfires is forbidden on the entire beach. Barbecuing is allowed under certain conditions, and you always clear up your own rubbish. Overnight camping on the beach is forbidden between 00:00 and 06:00. Cycling on the beach is allowed from 1 May to 1 October, only before 10:00 and after 19:00.
